Chelsea make £39million offer to sign Crystal Palace star

The 21-year-old France youth international has reached an agreement in principle with the Blues. Chelsea have reportedly tabled an opening bid of £39million for Crystal Palace star Michael Olise as they look to add further quality to their frontline. The winger is said to be keen to make the move to join the Blues, though it remains to be seen whether the Eagles entertain bids for the forward given Wilfried Zaha’s recent decision to depart in favour of a free transfer to Galatasaray.

A'very attractive' contract offer has been sent Olise's way, but it's claimed several clubs are looking to rival Chelsea, with Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City mentioned.

Olise was previously in Chelsea’s academy from 2009 to 2016, before moving to City, and then Reading where he rose to prominence. The London-born versatile attacker - capable of playing as a winger or attacking midfielder - had a prolific season last time out with two goals and 11 assists in the Premier League.

Along with a healthy pay increase, Chelsea can also offer Olise the chance to play alongside a number of his fellow countrymen in Wesley Fofana, Christopher Nkunku, Benoit Badiashile and Malo Gusto.Should he return to west London, he would link up with younger brother Richard, who is in Chelsea's academy.

Olise featured for France at the European U21 Championships, but unfortunately picked up a hamstring tear which will see him miss the start of the Premier League season.

He still has ambitions of making Les Bleus' senior team, though, with a move to Chelsea potentially drawing Didier Deschamps attention. After breaking the record spend for a season with over £600m paid out across the past two transfer windows, Chelsea are once again active in the market.
