Arsenal Files Complaint with FA Regarding Saka's Frequent Rough Treatment

Arsenal
has reportedly lodged a complaint with the Football Association (FA) regarding the persistent rough treatment faced by their player Bukayo Saka during matches. In a meeting with the Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) earlier this season, Arsenal expressed concerns about the frequency and severity of fouls committed against Saka.

Saka, who ranks as the third-most fouled player in the league this season, has encountered rough challenges 87 times. Only Jordan Ayew of Crystal Palace (117 times) and Miguel Almiron of Newcastle (92 times) have faced more fouls.

Arsenal has raised the issue with the PGMOL, emphasizing their belief that opponents can infringe upon Saka during Premier League matches without facing adequate punishment. The club argues that referees should issue yellow cards to offenders after the first serious foul against the 22-year-old player, rather than waiting until a second offense.

This complaint comes after a series of incidents prompting Arsenal to highlight what they perceive as opponents being allowed to infringe on Saka with impunity in the Premier League.

In February of the previous year, manager Mikel Arteta had cautioned Saka that he couldn't rely on referees to protect him from rough treatment.

Arteta stated, "He needs to learn when to take certain balls, how to deal with that, how to use his body, when to jump. We can train a lot of things, but obviously it's difficult to understand what the opponent is going to do. Wingers and talented players are going to get kicked, fouled, and asked to win games. That's his chance, that's his role in the team."

The FA has announced an investigation into Arsenal's complaint, assuring a serious approach to the matter. They pledge to take necessary measures to ensure fairness and safety in football matches. The progression of this complaint will be closely monitored by fans and the media, with expectations that the FA will deliver a just decision in its efforts to uphold fairness and safety in football games.
