Thiago Silva Eyes Return to Fluminense as Chelsea Mull Defensive Reinforcements

Renowned reporter John Cross from The Daily Mirror reveals that Chelsea's veteran Thiago Silva is poised to make a return to his former club, Fluminense, this summer.

Despite 39-year-old Silva continuing to be a crucial player under Chelsea manager Pochettino, the club is reportedly searching for new defenders this month. This signals the possibility that the experienced Brazilian center-back may depart in June.

Silva, who joined Chelsea in 2020, will see his current contract expire at the end of this season. Fluminense, his former Brazilian club, is eager to offer him a contract that would potentially mark the final chapter of his illustrious career.

Chelsea is prepared to offload English defender Chalobah in January, and Borussia Dortmund is interested in loaning Dutch defender Mateson. The Blues are looking to strengthen their defense further in the winter transfer window.

As an alternative option, Chelsea is considering bringing in Jean-Claire Todibo from Nice. The 23-year-old defender has attracted interest from various clubs, including Tottenham. Despite his relatively young age, Todibo has gained extensive experience, making nearly 100 appearances in Ligue 1 and earning two caps for the French national team.

If Chelsea decides to explore the transfer market for defensive reinforcements, Todibo appears to be a promising candidate. His skills and potential could inject fresh energy into the team's backline, providing a valuable option for the Blues.
