Nesta: I had hoped for a draw against Inter, but conceding the equalizer still leaves me a bit regretful
After Monza's 1-1 home draw with Inter Milan in the fourth round of Serie A, head coach Alessandro Nesta spoke to DAZN.
Were you more upset by the late goal, or more satisfied with the team's performance?
I'm very satisfied with the team's performance; the players were fully committed. I was hoping to get a draw against Inter, but the result still leaves me feeling a bit regretful. However, I saw progress in the team, and I feel very confident.
How did you prepare for this match?
We pushed a bit higher up the field and transitioned better between a five-man and three-man defense. At times, we played quite well, and this was a very good result.
What was missing in the final moments?
I saw that goal and was even a bit surprised. If the cross hadn't deflected, it wouldn't have gone in. The guys played well throughout the match. I only made two substitutions, so I feel bad for the players on the bench. Sometimes, not making changes works better, but maybe next time, I’ll make more adjustments.
Do you always plan to use a lone striker formation?
It depends on the type of game we want to play. Đurić gives us a lot of options, but in some matches, we will also field faster players. Over the course of the season, we will use all the weapons at our disposal.
